Jae Swanson, MMT, MT-BC (they/them) is a masters level board certified music therapist. After receiving their masters degree, they developed the music therapy program for a hospice agency in the greater Philadelphia area, and spent several years there as music therapist. Jae currently works as a Child Bereavement Counselor through another hospice in the Philadelphia area and maintains a small private practice.
Jae specializes in grief/loss, LGBTQIA+ identities, chronic/terminal illness, autism, intellectual disabilities, and anxiety/depression. They are committed to social justice, cultural humility, equity and inclusion in every professional and personal realm they occupy, and is a skilled presenter on these topics.
Jae has also presented at regional and national conferences on topics in music therapy, and has served the Mid-Atlantic Region of the American Music Therapy Association in various capacities. Recently, they completed their term as the Vice President of Conference Planning on the MAR Executive Board, and they currently serve as a member of the MAR Cultural Humility, Accessibility, Diversity, and Inclusion (CHADI) committee, which they also co-founded.
